The Society of Arts & Crafts was organized in 1967 and still is a non-profit organization dedicated
to the cultural development of arts and crafts. It was organized to encourage students and amateurs
to further their creative talents as well as provide an outlet to sell their projects.

With almost anything as time passes things change and hopefully for the positive. We wanted you
to know of the changes in the Society with the hope you might join the fun.

--Membership is open January through December--we welcome new members all year long.

--Show fees are established by show expenses.

Applications are reviewed at board meetings the first Tuesday of March, June, September & December.
Membership Meetings will be held the 3rd Tuesday of March, June, September & December, meeting
place will be emailed after each board meeting.

Our 2010 Board of Directors are President-Betty Rawsthorne, Vice President-Marcia Singleton,
Secretary/Treasurer-Rita Johnson, Officers: Betty Roberts, Ruby Jackson, Jo Littleton,
Michele Brudenell.

Society of Arts & Crafts Membership Requirements & Show Rules


Membership Requirements

1-Art/craft to be handmade or embellished by applicants, items made solely from kits not acceptable.
No resales allowed.

2-Photographs of work must be submitted along with applications by all prospective members.

3-Family memberships are open to all immediate/extended family members: Spouses, children,
siblings, parents, in-laws, cousins, partners, and any two people residing in the same household.

4-Members are responsible for collecting and reporting Florida State Sales tax to the Florida
Department of Revenue. For information call 850-488-5647.

Society of Arts & Crafts Show Rules
1-Show fees will be established by the Board of Directors to cover show expenses.

2-To participate in a Society show it is imperative that members return their applications by the
designated due date. Exceptions can be made to this rule if there is space available or someone drops
out of the show.

3-Individual problems should be directed to the Show Committee Chairperson or a Board Member.

4-a)All work being sold must have been made by the exhibitor(s). Items made solely from kits are
not acceptable. However, kits that are original creations of the exhibitor may be sold. No registered
trademark design can be used without proper licensing. No resales allowed

5-a)Exhibitors must provide their own tables, display items and chairs(director chairs or nice folding
chairs). NO lawn chairs allowed!
b)Tables must be covered to the floor on all sides. If sheets are used they must be pinned to fit.
c)Name cards and name tags will be provided by the Society and are to be displayed/worn. Business
or sale signs are not allowed, business cards /brochures may be distributed. Information sign can be
5”x7” in a frame for display or 8”x12” flat on the table top. Not stands or easels allowed.
Exhibitors are responsible for leaving their space as they find it at the beginning of the show.

6-Exhibitors are expected to be in charge of their booth during the show, incase of illness, work, etc..
they may have someone substitute for them. Two members can also share a booth.
NO smoking is allowed in the show area.

7-Exhibitors are not to pack up to leave before the show hours are over without Board permission.

8-Do not block ramps or walkways with vehicles during unloading or loading, remove your vehicle to
designated parking as soon as you have unladed-do not set up and then move your vehicle.

Service Hours

Here are some of the ways to get service hours!  Six hours minimum are required per active membership. You have agreed to pay $10. Per hour not worked.

  1. Join committees: Show Set up, Advertising. Very Special Arts Festival, Membership Recruitment, Programs, signs, charity.  If you are interested in any of these committees please call Betty 539-9537 or Rita 893-4661 and let them know.  One hour for each hour served on committees.
  2. Raffle-membership meetings-donate an item, $10. To $20. in value. One hour per $10. Value in merchandise.  Let Secretary know the value.
  3. Snacks-membership meetings-nothing elaborate-drinks not necessary. Two hours for signing up to bring snacks.
  4. Show door prizes-donate an item, $20. To $30. in value.  You are responsible to get the prize to the winner. One hour per $10. Value.  Let Secretary know the value.
  5. Refreshments for shows-homemade cookies/ brownies, etc…  Make sure you sign the sheet in the kitchen to get your service hours.  You can drop refreshments by, even if you are not in the show.         Two service hours for bringing the refreshments-2 hours per membership.
  6. Show Set Up & Refreshment Table Replenishment-one hour for each hours worked.
  7. Attending monthly membership meetings- ¼ hour for each meeting attended.
  8. Mail out preparation at membership meetings before a show- One hour for mail out prep.

We place members in shows by the point system.  The system takes into consideration your years in the Society, how involved you are in committees, shows and basic participation, sort of like a cooperative.
